In a word, we believe the Bible and its testimony of Jesus Christ. We believe that the Bible is God's love letter to mankind. The entire Bible is either pointing forward to Jesus Christ, who was yet to come (the Old Testament), or pointing back to Jesus Christ and explaining who He is, and what He did (the New Testament).
The Bible informs us that we are sinners who will be held accountable by an infinitely holy God, a God who does not tolerate sin. If we die and meet God in our sins He will judge us with absolute justice, giving us the penalty we so richly deserve: death and hell. But because God loves us He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to pay the penalty of sin on behalf of all those who will repent and place their trust in Christ. Jesus was crucified, taking in His body the judgment and penalty of sin, though He Himself had never sinned. Three days after being crucified, Jesus Christ rose from the dead, demonstrating that God had accepted the payment Jesus made for sins.
To all who place their trust in Christ, God grants to them complete forgiveness and considers that all their sins have already been punished in Christ on the cross. Those happy individuals are reconciled with God. Paul refers to this in Romans 5:1: Therefore having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, and Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. Those who have placed their faith in Jesus Christ are granted the special privilege of living eternally with God in heaven.
The Bible is not merely information: it is a persuasive document. It calls upon you, the reader, to repent of your sins and to believe upon God's only solution for sin, Jesus Christ. As John the Apostle wrote in his gospel (John 20:31): . . . these have been written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you may have life in His name.
