The New Testament is full of letters, and these letters contain typical introductions and conclusions. What is unique to all the letters of the New Testament is that they are inspired by God (2 Tim 3:16; 2 Pet 1:21), including these beginning and ending statements. Therefore, we should study these portions of Scripture, just like any of the others, in order to better understand God and His purposes.

This morning as a part of our special praise and worship service, we will consider one of Paul’s final statements including his doxology, his greetings and his benediction so that we might better understand the preeminence of God, the unity of the church and the ministry of the Trinity

People look everywhere for it and rarely find it. Solomon wrote an entire book about his search for contentment in Ecclesiastes. Sometimes it seems that there must a secret formula to contentment. The Right Kind of Church is a Spiritually Stable Church

Paul had a special bond with the Philippians Church. While they were on the right path in many areas, they still had their problems. When you think of the major themes of the New Testament you think of the good news of grace, forgiveness, redemption, and eternal life. In other words, you think of the gospel, and rightfully so. The good news of the gospel permeates throughout the NT. There is however another theme that echo’s the gospel, and it is a theme of warning. Many so-called “believers” are deceived about their true spiritual condition. Jesus himself sent out several warnings for believers to test the genuineness of their faith. A Few Good Men

Paul in his letter to the Philippians shares his concern for the Philippian church. He demonstrates his concern by sending Timothy and Epaphroditus to minister to them, as well as to encourage himself. By sending these two men Paul gives the church two great examples of the doctrines he just finished explaining. In our church today we should seek to follow their example as well, to ensure that the church is unified in its mission to glorify God.

A Humble Church is a Unified Church

Of all of the qualities a person should pursue there is possibly no quality more important to our spiritual welfare than that of humility (think of the Pharisees). Humility is not something that comes natural to us. In fact in our society today there is probably nothing more counter cultural than acting in humility. The church at Ephesus in Revelation 2:1-7 had a balance problem centering around a "love-hate" relationship. The One who knew their deeds, Jesus Christ, applauded them for their diligent hatred of false teaching; but this He had against them: they "left [their] first love." Amidst diligent efforts to "toil and persevere" against "evil men," they had left behind their love for others, and hence their love for God. Jesus exhorted them to repent and return to their deeds of love or risk the removal of their lampstand, the elimination of the flame of their church.
